I was born in Turkey, Studied in England for 5 years and have spent time all over Europe. I have family from everywhere from Germany to Palestine.
This isn't a contest to see how much we have been around the world. I asked that question because when you evaluate the level of "governmental interference" or the liberties we have in the US it becomes hard to really say that our government is more in our daily lives than in the majority of countries in the world.

Lived and worked in central and eastern Europe for 2 years...not with the military either. Add on to that about a month and a half living with my Aunt in London, plus having visited every European nation west of the Ukraine and north of Slovakia from 3 days to 3 weeks.

If your experiences are that in depth, please, tell me what experience you have with living in a foreign country and socializing with the people who live there. My experiences dealt with people basically on the bottom of the food chain (migrant workers -yes they exist even in Europe-).

The thing is, even if he was being satirical, he was posing it as a serious question to see how the guy countered. I just don't get why I question Colbert once, and all of the sudden it's because I have this huge desire to demonize everything popular.
