Christmas At the Rio
and by Rio I mean the casino in Vegas... the home of the magicians Penn and Teller. It was an AMAZING show... I saw some of my favorite tricks done live, I got to meet them after, almost got to be a part of a trick too... The tricks I saw live (favs): Shadows (performed by Teller) saw a woman in half (performed by both) Patriotism/disappearing flag (performed by both) I also got their autographs on the souvenir booklet I got from their show for free, that booklet opened my eyes to their lives too and.... WOW. They each wrote biographies on each other, and their style of writing and what they wrote about each other, the respect they have for each other and the show just leaps off the page and it made me have even more respect for them and their performances. One thing that really got to me was, while they wrote about each other, they wrote something about their POV of the show and working together.... Teller wrote something that kind of got to me (btw... totally heard him speak too) "There will be a last time I will do this. A last time I will see the things I love backstage. A night I will leave the theatre and never return. I felt the bottom drop out of my stomach. Then I quickly said aloud, "But not yet. Not yet." And I felt a warm rush of joy. Try that yourself sometime: Take something (or someone) you love, and - in your imagination - say goodbye forever right now. Grieve for a moment. Then feel the explosion of happiness that comes when you remind yourself you don't have to say goodbye. At least, not yet" His point of view on things ... I love them both but I will admit Teller probably puts me in awe more often then Penn, but I think there is no Teller without Penn..... They are a wonderful duo, if you don't know who they are, I got one word - INTERNET. use youtube and look up their magic, google and read about them. If you get the chance to see them live - TAKE IT!!!!!! It was the thing I was looking forward to the most on that trip and they did not disappoint. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas as well... and if you're not one to celebrate Christmas... I hope that your holiday season was wonderful as well. |
