Law of Vision and Practicality.
I consider myself a rather smart person. Not particularily special smart or better than anyone really. I have a good amount of knowledge though. There is a few things that catch my attention that really gets me thinking. Recently we have had the Casey Anthony Trial. A case which a Florida resident was accused of murdering her daughter, among other horrible things. In this case evidence was presented and refuted by both the prosecutors and defense. When all was said and done the jury was convinced there was reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony had killed her daughter. Many people believe this was an unjust ruling and that it was obvious that Casey had taken the life of her poor daughter. Lets take a step back however, The Law of the United States is that a person must be tried in a jury of their peers in a timly fashion and the outcome decided by the jury would be presented by the judge and deemed the facts of a case. Given that this case ended with Reasonable doubt how can anyone assume that this lady killed her daughter. It is not our decision to make. Casey Anthony has the same rights as any US citizen denying her rights would be as easy to forfeit your own. That is my law of vision. Now for practicality. A small group of scientists are pissed off because congress is considering cutting the funding to the hubble telescopes successor. How is arguing against the funding of a telescope practical? Taxpayers just cant afford all these luxuries. Is it practical to study something so far away to hope you learn something new that we may be able to use to assist our culture in 500years? Or should these scientists stay more focused close to home. We hardly understand our own planet and we want to look farther and farther at other planets and galaxies. This is not a practical idea. Practicality works like this in a way. Say you have a dung beattle. He starts with a little bit of dung...pushin it around with his ass end pushing it. Eventually it gets too big. He now has to face the huge pile of dung. Would it not be easier to find some other way to push that dung around that you wouldnt have to do backflips to figure things out? |
