To be frank, this is rapidly turning into a discussion of semantics. One could argue that Rooster Teeth is breaking into the mainstream, or that they're leaving classic machinima behind.
For what it's worth, I did not mean to actually post that comment. After I typed it out, I came to realize that it was a cheap shot that might leave more feelings hurt than otherwise. I still stand by my opinion that Chapter 3 doesn't quite count as machinima (more of a hybrid, really, and I make that point only because of how proud Rooster Teeth was to be a machinima purist studio), but I'm sorry I made that point at your expense.
I meant no offense, and I will agree that Rooster Teeth is taking their storytelling to the next level. However, this is done by transcending the limits of Machinima using CGI animation - not overcoming them from within the game engine.
The moment Grif bursts through the wall with a Warthog, it's no longer pure Machinima we're seeing. It's still RvB, and it's still animation, and it's still frickin' awesome… but it's not Machinima.
