Update: Feb 2011

Stardate 201102.1

Nearly a year since I last wrote in here - popped in a couple times since then to check up on things but haven't really had the time until today to really update. i figured I oughta start the 2011 overhaul on my entire web presence.

Lots of new stuff to tell, but the major piece worth taking from this is THE iNDiE MACHiNE.

If you haven't heard about it yet, you will be VERY soon.... and I don't just mean in this journal.

Shortly after my last journal post in March 2010 (having only just moved to the big city of Toronto a few months prior for an internship), I lost my bar job when the owners closed down early one night to "paint" and subsequently took anything worth any money and skipped town. i had been off that night helping a friend of mine cover a fund-raising gig - he DJ'd while I shot photos/video of the bands on the bill that night. The whole ordeal was a blessing in disguise (aside from me being out a couple hundred bucks) as it freed up my time for THE iNDiE MACHiNE: at the time a weekly radio show my friend David had been running for almost a year.

We joined forces, started having a band on the show each week for an interview and having them perform live on the air - which we then filmed and put online as an in-studio video series called "Sessions". We soon afterward started shooting live acts in our "Wired" series, started doing full-on interviews with bands and covering musical festivals that would swing through Toronto.

After the failure of HUD (the gaming journalism organization another friend and I had tried to start up - which was quickly met with scorn from the Canadian gaming blog community) I was really looking for a strong outlet to vent my very being into - this was it. THE iNDiE MACHiNE now has a fully revamped website (designed by yours truly), with daily updates, weekly features, our aforementioned video series', a second live broadcast radio show, and plenty more new ideas in the works which I am not at liberty to discuss yet as some of them are PRETTY big.

I'll keep you all posted, but in the meantime, check out some of the awesome stuff we've been working on.

Thanks. I don't think I'm really moving, just relocating until the new year.

so don't feel too bad about it man, it's definitely not you, times just really suck right now.
The issue is that while I know it's not me (or at least not entirely me), the situation makes no difference. The tension here will exist as long as I am unemployed and seemingly freeloading...
