Mojave Cherry Petals
One of my best friends is currently working on his thesis as a directing student at the AFI Conservatory in LA, which is apparently extremely difficult to get in to. It has been ranked the #1 film school in the world, and from what Tommy tells me they only accept 28 people for each discipline they offer: cinematography, directing, editing, producing, production design, and screenwriting. Pretty crazy. Anyway, thesis film projects are expensive. The school does provide some funding but each little team is also responsible for getting any extra money/resources on their own. I'm hoping you might be interested in supporting his efforts, or maybe even spreading the word. :) http://www.mojavecherrypetals.com From a message he sent me: We have tons more to raise, and your donation is a tax deductible expense since AFI is nonprofit! If this film does well in festivals and grabs the attention of producers/investors (which I'm confident it will if we have the budget to support the vision of the story) then I'm totally planning to come back to Hawaii asap and shoot a feature. Also, this is a story that I think needs to be heard right now, with Obama signing the NDAA into law at the beginning of this year. It basically allows the government to legally repeat internment (under the premise of anti-terrorism) if they want to. Sad times... Thanks |
