Anyone Still Here?

So... hi.

Haven't been on here in ages. Not entirely my fault though.

Back at the end of May, we had a minor fire in our house. All in all, it could have been a whole lot worse... fire damage was contained to one room... water damage a little further in... smoke throughout. Everyone is safe (wife, all 7 cats, and myself), and the house is well on the way to being restored (and in many ways, improved... having homeowner's insurance is definitely a good thing).

Life, though, has been a bit sideways for the last few months because of this. We've been living at my folks' place (except for one cat that is being boarded at our vet's... just not enough room at the house to deal with his special needs) and living on a minimum of our belongings... most of our things are in a storage unit. I've also been trying to exist using my father's PC (several years old, very quirky, and does not get along with this web site at all) but needed to do a few things tonight that required my box, so here I am.

So... yeah. That sums up my summer... existing at my folks house, spending just about all my free time getting the house back in shape, plus surviving hurricanes that decide to come calling at the most inopportune time.

I love Eats, Shoots and Leaves! It's a great book; it taught me how to properly use semicolons. I like it, Alot!

John Gosselin is the father of a set of twins and a set of sextuplets. He and his wife were on a show called John and Kat plus 8, but when he ran off with a younger woman, the network cut him out of the show. Now that he's off the show, he's accusing the network of abusing his children.

Levi Johnston impregnated Sarah Pailin's daughter, so he got an agent and thinks the women of America now want to see his junk in Playgirl.

Ugg boots have the practical side of things down though. So long as they don't get wet to the point of saturation, your feet won't get cold. Even then, being shearling, they'll stay warmer than most boots. Before they became a "fashion" item, they were made for winter surfers in Australia (cold, but not snowy, wet, and nasty, so suede uppers are okay...) and because they were so toasty (keeps your feet warm and dry well into the negatives,) they made the "snow sole" too, though you never see anyone wearing those. I don't count Uggs as a fashion item, although unlike Crocs, they don't come in quite as crazy of a rainbow, and thus, don't burn my retinas as much. In all honesty, being from Michigan, I wouldn't mind owning a pair with the snow sole, because let's face it, Michigan gets f-ing cold sometimes.

Also, moccasins are awesome sauce. I bought my first pair when I was 13, and still love them, bought another pair of custom moccasins here two years ago (ruby red!!) which I adore.

Acoustic, but it's not mine. I just like to look at it. So very pretty in the display window.

The Hi-Point is steel and polymer, which, AFAIK, is just like a Smith & Wesson or a Glock. Still, I'd rather one day afford a Glock. They have earned a reputation for durability.
-edit-
Also, the Hi-Point's defining characteristic is its low price. It's nowhere near as popular as other brands. I was able to buy the gun, but the store didn't even stock extra magazines for it, (while they've got cases and cases of different Glock mags) said I'd have to order them.

That's me for Splash Mountain. Not only did the sound track play continuously, about half way through the recording broke and started playing at double the speed it was supposed to. Suffered, I have.
