The Rant Part Last
I'm going to wrap this up with the remaining GM divisions, since nobody's reading this anyway and I'd like to at least finish what I've started, so here we go, starting with Saturn. I think Saturn's models should be more European than GM's other models, as well as less expensive if possible. Saturn has a loyal customer base, and with the right cars they should be able to expand that. GM needs to bring Opel designers over from Europe to design new Saturns--that, or just bring the Opels over with a rebadge. Yes, I know, rebadging is evil, but have you seen the Astra? Or Vectra? They're really great-looking cars with killer interiors and performance to boot. If more people knew about those cars they'd be screaming at GM to bring them over. So bring them over. Rename them according to their US monikers obviously, but if they're sold here they'll sell here, if that makes any sense. These cars, combined with Saturn's low-pressure no haggle dealerships, oughta really move some metal. Hummer is obscene IMO and serves absolutely no useful purpose than to supply rappers and socialites (and other useless people) an oversized Tonka toy penis replacement. Anyone who'd pay upwards of 50 thousand bucks for an off-road vehicle that they'll never take off road is an idiot, and GM is completely immoral for taking advantage of them. So yes, the civilian Hummer will be dropped entirely, and production will return to full military. The H2 and H3 will also be dropped after the end of the model year. I never understood the appeal of Saab. I never liked the looks of their cars, but I suppose their owners like them as they continue to sell to a rather loyal fanbase. So I say give those fans what they want. they like their odd, quirky designs and somewhat strange appearance, so I'd consult with Saab lovers and find out what they want in a Saab, then do my best to give it to them. As for GM dealers...I'd like to see them all go to Saturn's style of no-haggle pricing. Pay salesmen on straight salary--NOT COMMISSION--so instead of pushing and pressuring people into buying a car, they're more open and available to give people the information they need. Also, prices for the cars would be set by GM corporate, NOT the dealer. Dealers would be forbidden to charge over sticker for any model, no matter how high demand got. (Money dealers charge over sticker doesn't go to GM, it goes to the dealer and the slimeball salesman that negotiated the deal) This alone would see a huge increase in sales for GM. So there you have it, my brilliant plan. OK, maybe not brilliant but you get the idea. |
