Standard College Freshmen
Are hilarious! Found 2 Marines (vets) in all the classes I have, and about 30 Army Vets / National Guardsmen in my classes. Fewer, Prouder. Still only female vet. Hell yea! OK, tangent aside, the "standard" college freshmen are funny [to me] because they.... * gripe when a homework assignment takes an hour, and is due in two days. * have to get up before 1000 * gripe when [their lack of] attendance gets them a lower grade * get a parking ticket for parking in the staff parking areas * complain about having 120+ menu items in the cafeteria which repeats every 60 days * think their $500 car is "the bomb" for they paid for it out of savings * think their high school was the best one on the planet * see a military-style backpack and instantly walk in the opposite direction * complain about their classes going "too fast" of a pace for "proper learning" * don't understand why they can't turn in all assignments the week before finals * copy homework problems from Google search results * don't ask questions in class and miss the question on the test/quiz * don't understand the usefulness of a syllabus * (Introduction to Computer Programming 1 class) turn in programs that don't work * (Trig) turn in HW that isn't attempted beyond the page header * (Intro. to Engineering) wonder the difference between Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering * don't know why they have to actually understand what is being taught in the classroom * write all over their car/dorm windows with glass chalk saying "future wife" or "bff" etc * go after the same degree as their friends, but hate what the degree is * try to text/game in class on cell phones or laptops and hope they don't get caught * complain about having to be in class 12+hrs a week for "full-time" status * complain about essays for scholarships * say the exercise done walking around campus between two classes is enough for a day * don't get a parking space next to the door * gripe [endlessly] about a light drizzle of rain and having to walk 20 feet to their car * eat in class for they don't have time in their schedule for 3 full meals - and the hour to eat them * don't understand the importance of a military * bend over like the hunchback of Notre Dam when their backpack is full * use over-sized backpacks Any more I missed? |
