This weekend was the second year for
Hal-Con - our local Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Comic Convention. Last year was pretty good, but the location was a little cramped. This year, they moved to a bigger venue and they were allowed to add more to the show. I was going to go anyway, but the deal was sealed when they announced their Special Guests. Sure, they found some guy who was on some show about a bunch of kids running around killing vampires... but I'm too old for that stuff. I was born in the late 70's. When I was 5, I had only one TV show that made me want to be a Spaceman. Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was my first taste of Science Fiction, and I loved every minute that my parents would let me watch. So, when I found out that I'd have a chance to meet Erin Gray - a.k.a. Colonel Wilma Deering - I was beside myself. I never thought I'd be willing to actually go to a Convention and fork over real money just to have my picture taken with someone. I guess I was wrong.
The entire weekend was a blast. Since I don't live anywhere near a big convention site, I'll take what I can get. There were Q&As with the special guests, loads of authors and artists, and a great costume contest.
I took lots of pictures, but have to remember that my little camera just doesn't cut it in low light. Next time, I'm bringing the "good" camera!
