Public Service Announcement
Clickity for a story tl;dr- News reporter was petting a dog, shoved her face in dog's face. Dog bit reporter. I know you love dogs, but that doesn't make you Cesar Millan. Loving dogs, and understanding dogs are two different things. If you meet a new dog, ask the owner if it's okay to pet the dog first. Seriously. While there are many friendly dogs who love attention, there are dogs who will see the gesture of you getting in their face as a threat. Dogs have their master. Dog's sometimes think of themselves as bodyguards. If you ran up to Justin Beiber I'm sure his/her bodyguard would ground pound you before you got too close. They don't know if you're going to stab that beibs, or hug him/her. "They should know better!" Telling a dog, "hey dog, don't bite." is like me screaming at you, "BELGIAN WAFFLES! WALRUS!" They don't know English. Why do I mention this? Because while Agnes is now a sweet, submissive, ball of fluff, she is also a breed known for their loyalty (Causing them to be considered an "aggressive breed"). My biggest fear is having someone run up to me one day to say, "hi! OMG ur dog is like so kul" and her taking it as a threat. She's now in intermediate class and is becoming a well trained dog, but I can't control the actions of other people. tl;dr- Don't shove your face in a dog's face. Always ask the owner if it's okay to pet their dog first. |
