Can you help out my theater company?Gnap! Theater Projects, my company, is putting on 3 weeks of shows built to bring together audiences from some of Austin's performance communities that don't mix all that much but for which we think there is a lot of potential shared interests (improv comedy, theater, dance, avant garde music, 'other').We're doing this on on the cheap this year as an experiment, but we think it's going to be awesome. So here's why I'm writing you guys. We're raising funds through Kickstarter from now until the end of the fest. Here's how Kickstarter works. Pledges can be as small as $1, and you don't get charged until we meet our fundraising goal, which in this case is $800. We're already almost 50% there, but we'd love it if you could help us out. Even throwing us the couple dollars equivalent of a cup of coffee would help us get closer to taking care of the rental costs of using SVT and allowing us to use the funds we raise at the door to pay our artists for what they do. And then we go into 2010 with new funding from the city and this new festival already built into our budget (we sort of threw this year's together in the past couple of months). You guys are all awesome, and I know in many cases you're no more rolling in dough than am I, so we doubly appreciate it. www.kickstarter.com/projects/447698367/ All the best, Shannon |
