New digs
Those of you that follow me on Twitter may have seen a few cryptic messages about a new project over the last couple of weeks. Today, I can finally reveal to you that this project is a new gaming website I’m going to be working for, Big Red Barrel. Let me take this opportunity to lay down some facts that I personally believe I will be asked about: - This is not my end at Achievement Hunter, the site and it’s community will continue to be a huge part of my virtual life. - The Weekend Hunt post will continue for the forseeable future, I have made no plans to stop doing this at any point. - There are no conflicts of interest in this. Achievement Hunter has always primarily been an achievement guide website. Big Red Barrel is more of a typical gaming news website, with reviews and interviews, although of course we’ll be trying to do things a little different. Any content made for one site, will not end up on the other, unless linked to in my journal here, in which case it will be made clear which site the content is for. Hopefully that should deal with the nitty gritty, but if you guys have any questions about it, please feel free to ask them. I’m grateful for this site, it’s team and community members. They’ve made me into the gamer I am today, and I’m not ready to give that up yet. Not by a long shot. The story behind this new outlet is one of a close family, torn apart by a tyrannical dictator and forced to find a new home. Forced out by one of the site owners, a few of the dedicated team drew up plans for a new website. One that would take a different direction from the original with agreements in place to prevent a power struggle in the future. One of those members is my good friend Dan aka CapnAverage, who confided in me their intentions when the podcast he co-hosted for SG came to a sad end. As a friend, I offered to help out with contributions to the website, originally under the idea that this would be a when and if it was possible. Since then I have been in talks with Dan, and his old podcast co-host Tim, about the direction of the site and what they hope to achieve. It was then that Dan offered to have me on the site as a permanent member of staff, as the rest of the management were quite enthusiastic with having me on board. And so, one signed agreement in blood (digital blood only) and a few weeks of teasing at it, here we are. I hope you’ll all check out Big Red Barrel, my first post and the site's first review are one and the same, it’s a work in process but getting better every day. In the mean time, if you want to keep up with me personally, make sure you follow me on Twitter @TudorVII. Otherwise, you’ll still see me around here, don’t you worry about that. |
